Eye-soothing massagers can be broadly categorized into three main types based on their massage methods: airbag-based, physical-based, and multi-functional (composite). The airbag-based type utilizes air pressure to apply rhythmic compression to the eye tissues, simulating manual techniques such as pushing, kneading, pressing, and pinching to improve ocular circulation. The physical-based type primarily encompasses vibration massage and bionic acupressure; the vibration method stimulates acupoints around the eyes via vibrating massage heads, while the bionic acupressure method employs bionic massage heads or contact points to simulate human hands applying pressure to specific acupoints. The multi-functional type integrates a variety of features, including airbags, vibration, hot compresses, cold compresses, and mist atomization.

The basic structure of an eye massager typically comprises a main unit, a massage module, a temperature control module, a wearing mechanism, and control/interaction components. The main unit serves as the core control hub, with its casing often constructed from materials such as ABS. The massage module primarily consists of airbags and massage heads; the airbags can be configured for multi-layer or independent control to enable precise, zone-specific compression, while the massage heads are typically made from skin-friendly materials such as silicone. The temperature control module incorporates both hot and cold compress functions; hot compress temperatures are typically maintained at a constant 38°C–42°C or 40°C–45°C, while cold compress temperatures generally range from 20°C to 25°C. Some products also support switching between-or alternating between-hot and cold modes. Certain high-end models additionally feature an atomization module, providing a micron-level mist function to soothe and moisturize the eyes. The wearing mechanism typically utilizes a highly elastic, adjustable headband, though some products feature a split-style or detachable design. Control and interaction methods include physical buttons, gesture control, smart app integration, and voice control. Other functional components may include a visual window or open-frame design, music playback and Bluetooth audio capabilities, as well as a built-in lithium battery and a Type-C charging port.

The parts of the product that come into contact with the skin are frequently made from skin-friendly materials such as protein leather, microfiber protein leather, bionic silicone, breathable velvet fabric, or flexible breathable mesh fabric. The outer casing is predominantly constructed from ABS engineering plastic, with surface finishes that may utilize processes such as mirror-finish baking paint. In terms of user-centric design, these products prioritize lightweight construction and portability; device weights can be as low as 80g, and many models support a 180-degree folding mechanism for compact storage. The ergonomic design incorporates structures such as concave contours and floating, retractable cushions to achieve a seamless, full-contact fit that is entirely free of pressure. In terms of intelligence and personalization, the system supports features such as multi-mode switching, user preference memory, and intelligent guidance.
